In this humble Jedi Master’s opinion (some call me Davey-Wan Kenobi), this is very good news for Star Wars fans!
Lucasfilm and Disney have announced the cast for Star Wars: Episode IX. Mark Hamill will be reprising his role as Luke Skywalker (probably as a Force ghost); Billy Dee Williams will return to the Star Wars galaxy as Lando Calrissian; and, most notably, Carrie Fisher will be back as General Leia.
J.J. Abrams, the director of Episode VII who will also be directing Episode IX, stated that no C.G.I. will be used when it comes to how they handle Leia. Nor will the film-makers re-cast Leia with a different actress.
Instead, the creators of this latest Saga film will utilize previously unused footage that Abrams shot for Episode VII.
As a die-hard Star Wars AND Carrie Fisher fan, I actually think this is the best solution for a difficult problem (Carrie, of course, died in 2016).
But that’s just my two cents. May the Force be with you!

It's bittersweet facing my final chapter without her-She is simply irreplaceable. I'm finding solace in the fact that she won't BE replaced & would love the worldwide outpouring of affection from those who loved her when they heard the news.#CarrieOnForever pic.twitter.com/7ueMqBxQwa
