Apple’s CEO Tim Cook Throws Some Shade At Facebook

Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple says that he feels it’s “too late” for social platforms like Facebook to avoid being regulated.

According to a quote on Billboard.com from Cook’s MSNBC Interview with Chris Hayes and Recode’s Kara Swisher, he says “I think the best regulation is no regulation, is self-regulation.”

He, of course, is taking the privacy concerns regarding Facebook, with the fact that private data for over 50 Facebook users was obtained by Cambridge Analytica.

He said, “Privacy to us is a human right, a civil liberty.”

This comes after Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg took out front page ads to express his deepest apologies to the users of Facebook for essentially being data hacked by the data analytics firm associated with Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

“We have a responsibility to protect your information. If we can’t, we don’t deserve it,” read the ad. It also notes that they are working to “make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

When Cook was asked what he would do if he was in Mark Zuckerberg’s shoes, he replied: “I wouldn’t be in this situation.”

OUCH.

Zuckerberg is rumored to be open to testifying in front of Congress, but according to Billboard, he didn’t commit to appearing officially.

Amy Cooper is one with the force and the force is with her.
