The Shocking Amount Of Days Bill Murray Is Stuck In ‘Groundhog Day’
Cue up Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe,” because it’s…GROUNDHOG DAY!!!!
Okay, maybe we can pass on the Sonny & Cher, but with every February 2, it’s hard not to think about Punxsutawney Phil and the iconic 1993 comedy starring the equally iconic Bill Murray.
But have you ever stopped to think about just how many days Phil Connors is stuck reliving the same day? Late-great director Harold Ramis has said Phil is stuck reliving Groundhog Day for ten years, while the site Wolf Gnards, who is often sited when figuring out the timeline, says eight years, eight months and 16 days.
As expected, there are other theories, but the one we think might be the most accurate comes from WhatCulture which goes through a thorough breakdown of all of Phil’s actions, skills he’s mastered, etc. The result? 12, 395 days, which equals 33 years and 350 days! (No wonder Phil tried to kill himself so many times!)
Check out the complete breakdown in the video below.
