Hola!  “East Side” Dave here with my NON-spoiler review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi!

Here’s what I can tell you.  The Last Jedi is a totally unique Star Wars movie.  While writer-director Rian Johnson stays true to the Galaxy, it is not simply a re-booting of The Empire Strikes Back (in a way that some had felt that 2015’s The Force Awakens was a bit too similar to 1977’s A New Hope).

The cinematography and visuals are absolutely spectacular…sometimes even mind-bending.  And the performances are some of the best acting in any Star Wars story that you will see.  Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) specifically steal the show with two fantastic performances.

The story is HUGE.  At two-and-a-half hours, The Last Jedi has the longest running time of any Star Wars film.  But it never felt too long.  On the contrary, the flick is packed with great story-telling and goes by quickly.

At my screening (in the AMC Theater at Monmouth Mall), I counted at least five times where the audience broke out into applause.  And I personally had my jaw drop at least two or three times.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is one of the best movies of the year.  Check it out!  And may the RAT be with you!
