SAO PAULO, BRAZIL - MARCH 12: Singer Jesse Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal performs during 2016 Lollapalooza Brazil at Autodromo de Interlagos on March 12, 2016, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Eagles Of Death Metal returned to the Bataclan in Paris on Monday (November 13) to not-so-quietly pay tribute to those who were killed during the terrorist attack on its show there two years ago.

The group made a surprise appearance to perform its song “I Love You All The Time” and Duran Duran‘s “Save A Prayer” for a remembrance that also included France’s President Emmanuel Marcon and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. The leaders held a moment of silence outside the Bataclan and read the names of the 89 victims, which included EODM’s merchandise manager.

Frontman Jesse Hughes told us earlier this year that he’s still haunted by what happened at the Bataclan and does not foresee a time when that won’t be the case. But it’s also made him more defiant about moving on and continuing to create and perform:

“For me, my behavior since (the Bataclan) has been informed by the concept that I don’t want to be haunted by 89 people; I want to be accompanied by 89 souls. Normally something like what happened in Paris would make you a little more shy of the world at large, but it’s had the opposite effect. I want to live every day doing something. I want to hone my craft. I love what I do. This is the greatest job I’ve ever had in my life; Even the worse days in my showbiz life is better than the best day I’ve had in my regular life. That show at the Olympia represented a lot, for everybody. It really gave me a whole new life.”

EODM is working on a new album that’s expected to be released next year.
