Mastodon fans can toast their appreciation with the group’s own beer.
The headbangers have announced a second beer, an imperial stout called Sultan’s Curse, in partnership with the Mikkeller Brewing Co. in San Diego and is described as “A monster Imperial Stout with intense layers of dates and coffee (from Dark Matter Coffee), which sit gracefully above a complementing cardamom brightness. Toasted pistachios bring depth and texture alongside an integrated spice and vanilla bouquet from the bourbon-barrel aging. Full-bodied and complex.”
Sultan’s Curse takes its name from the opening track Mastodon’s latest album, Emperor of Sand. Mastodon and Mikkeller previously released the Mastodon Mother Puncher brew and celebrated Sultan’s Curse with a pre-show reception and an afterparty around the group’s concert on Thursday night (October 19) in San Diego.
Mastodon wraps up its current North American tour on October 27 in Reno, then begins a European trek on November 10 in Berlin.
