A massive, Metal monster greater than the sum of its well-traveled parts, Dark Sky Choir is set to make a solid impact on the Northeast music scene. The band is made up of four journeymen Jersey Rockers, who have performed with groups ranging from local tribute bands to internationally touring acts. Their experience has lead them to unite under one banner to put out their own brand of unadulterated Metal.
Dark Sky Choir is fronted by Hollywood How. The singer put his incredible vocal range to good use over the years, channeling the likes of Rob Halford and Ronnie James Dio in a number of tribute bands. Guitarist Fred Gorhau honed his high level musical prowess during his 7-year stint with Holiday Metal act Wizards of Winter. After touring the US and Europe with Exxplorer, Drummer Mike Sakowski spent the last few decades teaching drum skills to young area musicians. Bassist Joe Stabile has performed with a number of local acts, including Lords of Mercy, and toured with members of Anvil.
Dark Sky Choir will celebrate the release of their self-titled debut album with a special record release show at The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville on Friday June 23. Gotts and The Rat Pack will be on the scene that night and the entire evening will be hosted by “That Metal Show’s” Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine, and Don Jameison. A copy of the new album is included with admission. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door and are available HERE.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear cuts from Dark Sky Choir’s new album. Singer Hollywood How, Guitarist Fred Gorhau and Band Manager Rick Santaniello will call in to the show each night to talk about the album and the upcoming show.
