Winter Is Coming... And So Is Beer At This 'Game Of Thrones' Bar

We are still a year away until HBO releases Season 7 of Game of Thrones and still even further away from the next book.

So, what are we supposed to do in the meantime? Thanks to the event producers of The Pop-Up Geek, we have a solution.

Come fill the Lannister-Stark void in your life at the “Game of Thrones” themed bar. The temporary bar is located in Edinburgh, Scotland and is entitled Blood and Wine - an appropriate name for the sword-swinging series.

On The Pop-Up Geek’s website, they state that “alcohol is required to help peasants and lords alike through the woes in life in Westeros.” This bar may be based off of the mythical land, but they are not officially associated with the franchise.

Drinks and food on the menu also share the theme. According to Buzzfeed, drinks entitled Myrish Fire Wine, Black Tar Rum Cocktails, and food like meaty Frey pie can be seen on the menu.

To get visitors into mindset that they are in Westeros, the bar also has a variety of replicas from the TV show. Guests are encouraged to play with Game of Throne themed props such as replica Valerian steel swords and iron shields with dire wolves engraved on the front.

Walls are lined with wanted posters for The Hound Sandor Glegane. The poster reads “Wanted - for the crimes of treason, desertion and murder. The man to present the Hound’s head at King’s Landing will be rewarded generously with lands and lordship. By order of Queen Cersei Lannister, first of her name, queen and the first meant, and protector of the realm.”

The Pop-Up shop is open Wednesday and Thursdays throughout February. Fans are encouraged to “taste [their] way through the Seven Kingdoms but remember, when you play the Game of Thrones, you drink or you die.” Not to worry, there has not been any casualties…so far!

Get your plane ticket ready and visit this once in a life time bar because, as George R.R. Martin writes, “everything’s better with some wine (and beer) in the belly.”
