Stone Sour will be releasing its second EP of covers songs, Straight Outta Burbank, for Record Store Day Black Friday on November 27.
The diverse set features the group's treatment of songs by Slayer, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden and Bad Brains, along with a rendition of the Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" featuring Lzzy Hale. The set follows the group's initial covers EP Meanwhile in Burbank..., and Stone Sour (and Slipknot) frontman Corey Taylor tells us there will be more where they came from:
"I have to record the vocals on the third covers EP, which is 'No Sleep 'til Burbank,' and we're just kinda releasing those as we can. The music's all done; it's just trying to get everything together...'Straight Outta Burbank’ has got everything from Motley to Slayer to Rolling Stones, and 'No Sleep 'til Burbank' is gonna have everything from Violent Femmes to the Buzzcocks to Van Halen. It's a cool way for us to share our influences with the audience."
Stone Sour is also working on an album of new material for 2016, while Slipknot returns to the road for Knotfest Mexico on December 5 and a European tour that begins January 20 in Sweden.
