Nalani & Sarina hail from Central Jersey. Literally born to be a duo, the two are identical twin sisters. They describe their sound as “a distinctive blend of traditionalist Soul-Rock and Modern Pop.” The duo achieved national acclaim in 2015 with the release of their video “Get Away.” It won the Freshman Contest on mtvU and is currently in rotation on the channel. “Get Away” is off Nalani & Sarina’s “Scattered World” EP. You can score a download of it now at nalanisarina.com.
Nalani & Sarina will lend their talent to a great cause on Sunday 12/3 at The Saint in Asbury Park. The duo will perform at the “Hearts On Our Sleeves” Coat Drive & Concert. Organized by Joshua Van Ness, the concert also features performances from The Sunday Blues, Christina Alessi & Jonathan Andrew, Brandywine Road, Matthew Stephen and The Sweet Action, and The Joshua Van Ness Band. Admission is $5 with a new or gently used coat donation and $10 without one. More info at ticketweb.com.
All proceeds “Hearts On Our Sleeves” benefit The Morning Glory Behavioral Health Partial Care Program of Monmouth County, “an adult partial care program that provides a comprehensive, structured program for individuals with severe & acute mental illness.” Learn more about The Morning Glory Behavioral Health Partial Care Program of Monmouth County at mgbhpc.com.
Nalani & Sarina’s cover of Tom Petty’s “American Girl” was shot during a live performance at The Bitter End in New York City. Their “American Boy” version of the track does an excellent job of paying tribute to the legendary artist, reversing the meaning of the song to be about the Heartbreaker himself.
Before they rock “Hearts On Our Sleeves” at The Saint on 12/3, Nalani & Sarina will play The Vault at Victor Records in Berlin on 12/2. The duo will play a Holiday Benefit at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City on 12/9.
