Jersey Rock Feature of the Week: Celebration of the Guitar

Rocking House Of Independents on April 28!

April is International Guitar Month:  a time when the world celebrates all things guitars.  WRAT has marked the occasion with a number of guitar-themed features and an autographed Green Day guitar giveaway.  Check out all the Guitar Month features HERE.

While the guitar celebration is in full effect at wrat.com another guitar celebration is about to rock Asbury Park.  Dark City Entertainment and The Saint present:  Celebration of the Guitar, a concert featuring Colossal Street Jam, Kenny Dubman, Frankenstein 3000 and Bitter Crush.  The event goes down at House Of Independents in Asbury Park on Friday April 28.  Doors are at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $15 and are available HERE.

Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat at 11:30 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear from the bands on the bill.

On Tuesday night we’ll hear from Colossal Street Jam. Having earned an Asbury Park Music Award nomination back in December and playing The Jersey Rock Showcase series back in February, their powerful comeback is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.  Their “Living Free” CD is out now.  You can score a copy of the disc HERE and learn more about the band at colossalstreetjam.com.

Wednesday’s featured artist is Kenny Dubman. A brilliant guitarist whose hard rock sound channels influences including Bad Company, Deep Purple, and Ozzy, he recently put out his first solo effort.  “Reckless Abandon” “pays homage to its 70’s root, while still forging an identity of its own.”  Simply put, the disc rocks from cover to cover.  You can score a copy of the CD HERE and learn more at kennydubman.com.

We’ll close out the on-air feature on Thursday night with Frankenstein 3000. No strangers to Rat Radio, Frankenstein 3000 is lead by Electric Ballroom host and well-traveled guitarist Keith Roth.  Keith is also currently touring with Punky Meadows, filling in for Felix Robinson.  Frankenstein 3000 recently rocked 2 Jersey Rock Benefit Shows, honoring the memory of Alison Swift.  Learn more about the band at frankenstein3000.com and score their music HERE.

We have not forgot about Bitter Crush.  Their video for their latest single “Powders and Pills” is this week’s Jersey Rock Video of the Week.  Check out that video along with a live recording of the band from their performance at the Light of Day Festival HERE.
