Before there was Jersey Rock, there was Makin Waves. For almost 30 years Bob Makin has supported local music through his column. He’s covered the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, South Side Johnny, Monster Magnet and many, many more. A fixture at the clubs of the Jersey Rock scene since the 1980’s, he continues to shine the spotlight on up and coming local artists. It’s only fitting that he would celebrate his column’s 30th anniversary with a concert series featuring a number of great New Jersey acts.
The Makin Waves 30th Anniversary Concert Series consists of 11 showcases featuring awesome local talent leading up to the 30th anniversary of the Makin Waves column in 2018. The first showcase hits Roxy and Dukes Roadhouse in Dunellen on Friday April 21. On the bill are Yawn Mower, Black Flamingos, The Paper Jets, and Lowlight. In addition to a most excellent concert, there will also be circus acts by Vivi Noir and Vertical Fixation. This will NOT be your average rock show. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and are available HERE.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear from the bands featured on the first Makin Waves 30th Anniversary Showcase. Here’s the broadcast schedule:
Tuesday 4/18: Lowlight
