The Shady Street Show Band hails from Red Bank and has been described as a "groovy, twisted, soulful, music stew." Since its formation in 2012 the band has achieved local acclaim, putting out putting out 2 EP's and 1 LP. They earned Asbury Park Music Awards in 2014, 2015, and most recently in 2016, when singer Lindsey DeSena won Best Female Vocalist and musician Ryan Gregg was awarded Best Keyboard Player.
Depending on the venue, the band can manifest into several different incarnations; sometimes growing as large as 15 members, complete with a horn section and back-up singers. I've caught the 6-piece version of the band at the Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten twice. They have absolutely no trouble filling that large space with their rich, funky sound.
You can catch The Shady Street Show Band at Langosta Lounge, on the boardwalk in Asbury Park on Friday March 17. Their St. Patrick's Day performance runs from 10pm to 1am. It's a free show, so definitely take advantage and celebrate the wearin' of the green with a most excellent local band.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat on Tuesday to hear three great original songs from The Shady Street Show Band's first full-length album, "Revelry." You can score that disc now at theshadystreetshowband.bandcamp.com.
