Jersey Rock Band of the Week: Owel

Coming to House Of Independents in Asbury Park on December 3.

Owel could be classified as an Indie/Alternative band, but that wouldn't really do them justice.  They blend thoughtful lyrics and great vocals with skilled musicianship to produce a melodic, somewhat symphonic sound.  With a violin and viola complimenting strong guitar, bass, keyboard and percussion work, their soothing sound is something that definitely stands out.

Though they have not been around very long, the band is already very accomplished.  Owel's music has been featured on a number of national television networks, including Fox, The CW and NBC and they are veterans of a number of festivals.  You may have caught them at The Gentlemen of the Road Festival, CMJ, South By Southwest and The Northside Festival.

Owel recently released their sophomore album "Dear Me," a follow up to their 2013 self-titled debut album and 2015 EP "Every Good Boy."  It's an awesome disc and we'll take cuts from it all week on Jersey Rock.  You can score a copy of the new album and Owel's other releases HERE.

You can catch Owel at House Of Independents in Asbury Park on December 3.  Wyland and John The Gun are on the bill with them that night.  Tickets are $15 and are available HERE.
