Johnny B. Morbid manifested in Toms River more than a decade ago. Through their Horror-Punk/Metal sound they have carved out a solid following and much acclaim in the local scene. In its 11 year history the band has embarked on 4 tours and put out 7 independently released albums. They have evolved over time, with their earlier work resembling Punk Rock sounds of The Offspring and Horror-Punk legends the Misfits and their newer work gravitating towards the realm of Power Metal, evoking the feel of bands like Blind Guardian and Grave Digger. Johnny B. Morbid easily straddles both genres, rocking hard in the process.
Listening to their latest work, 2015's "Fall of the Cicada," I can't help but think they still have more in the tank. I'm sure they have a good reason to call it quits and I wish them the best.
Johnny B. Morbid will say goodbye at a special farewell show at The Brighton Bar in Long Branch on Friday October 28. On the bill with them are The Zombie Mafia, Deadly Nights, Synergi, Golden Age and Silence Unbound. I can't think of a better time for the show because Halloween is definitely Johnny B. Morbid's season. A professional film crew will record the concert for a 2017 video release. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door .
