Former Bad Religion Drummer Brooks Wackerman Unveiled As New A7X Drummer

It’s official:  Brooks Wackerman has been named the new drummer of Avenged Sevenfold.

M.Shadows broke the news on Chris Jericho’s “Talk Is Jericho” podcast and stated that Wackerman’s name came up when A7X were looking for a new drummer after the sudden passing of original drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan in 2009, but at the time, Wackerman was drumming for Bad Religion, and due to commitments he had made to them, joining A7X just wasn’t going to work out.  Wackerman has also worked with Tenacious D, Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves and Tom DeLonge.

Wackerman took to Twitter on October 27th and announced he was leaving Bad Religion after being in the band for 15 years and six albums and stated, “This wasn’t an easy decision to make after spending a good chunk of my life in such an iconic band, but after reassessing my future in music it was time for me to pursue another path.”

Wackerman replaces Arin Ilejay, who officially left A7X this past July and played on the band’s 2013 album Hail To The King.
